Former Manchester City captain joins BBC WSL coverage team

As the 2024/25 Women’s Super League (WSL) gets underway, former Manchester City captain and Women’s Super League winner, Steph Houghton, is joining the BBC’s punditry team for the first time after hanging up her boots last season.

Houghton, who has also captained England’s Lionesses, joins familiar faces Fara Williams, Ellen White and Anita Asante to analyse the performance of teams and players.

Alex Scott and Kelly Somers take on presenting duties, with Jo Currie as lead pitchside reporter.

Lead match commentators will be Robyn Cowen and Vicki Sparks, while Rachel Brown-Finnis and Gilly Flaherty will be our main co-commentators.

The BBC’s weekly highlights programme also returns, and the latest news, match clips and player content are all across the BBC Sport website, app and social channels.

Women’s Football Show has highlights of every Women’s Super League fixture. Watch it first on BBC iPlayer from 9pm and on BBC One at 11.30pm, every Sunday of match weeks.

Kelly Somers presents and will be joined by current and former players and managers to dissect the action from the biggest games.

BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds will cover every twist and turn of WSL season, with weekly commentaries and on demand content.

The Women’s Football Weekly podcast returns on Sounds, as Ben Haines is joined by England’s record goal scorer Ellen White and our new signing, the 5-time WSL winner Jen Beattie.

On BBC Sounds and YouTube, fans can also catch-up on the first series of the Tooney and Russo show. England stars Ella Toone and Alessia Russo, plus presenter Vick Hope, take us inside the dressing room.
