Chantal Boyle is to join the BBC as the broadcaster’s new commissioning editor for entertainment.
Boyle is currently exec producer of Amanda Holden’s upcoming Netflix reality series Cheaters: Unfinished Business and also spent four years at Studio Lambert exec producing Gogglebox for Channel 4. Other recent exec producer credits include Lifted format I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here South Africa (ITV1) and Hungry Bear’s Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof (BBC1). During a stint at now-defunct label Betty, she exec produced C4’s The Undateables.
Boyle’s appointment comes as current daytime and ents commissioning editor Neil McCallum moves on to oversee a slate that includes the growing Traitors brand comprising The Traitors, Celebrity Traitors (w/t) and The Traitors: Uncloaked.
Based out of Glasgow, McCallum will continue as the nations lead for entertainment, with responsibility for other major titles including Pointless Celebrities, The Graham Norton Show and The Hit List.
The appointment of Boyle brings the ents commissioning team to 10 people, headed by Kalpna Patel-Knight. Including Boyle, there are now seven commissioning editors on the team: McCallum, Pinki Chambers, Clodagh O’Donoghue, Sarah Clay, Ruby Kuraishe and Katie Taylor. The senior commissioning editor is Jo Wallace and commissioning exec is Jamie Dodds.
