Frank Sagnier, the former CEO of Codemasters, who led it through the $1.2bn acquisition by EA, has joined Steel City Interactive.

He becomes non-Executive Chair of the developer behind the Undisputed boxing game.

“Having seen what Ash and the team at SCI have achieved so far, and what’s to come, I’m thrilled to join a team that is already punching well above its weight,” he explained.

“The sport of boxing has a growing global audience hungry for a game that represents not only the most authentic boxing experience but also an unprecedented roster of former and current champions. Undisputed will be an incredible game experience for boxing fans and casual gamers alike.”

Ash Habib, Co-founder and Creative Director of Steel City Interactive added:

“What started as a fun boxing game has grown exponentially over the past couple of years. This growth has brought new opportunities that Frank is ideally placed to help us maximise. His knowledge and expertise have already helped us shape the vision of the studio and ‘Undisputed’. We’re delighted to have him in our corner.”

SCI employs 27 staff at its Sheffield base, its Undisputed title features a line-up of boxers ranging from Muhammad Ali and Tyson Fury to Oleksandr Usyk and Katie Taylor.

It will be available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC – with initial release on Steam Early Access.
