Flipbook has worked alongside Wargaming’s WG Labs, to create a trailer for its new Hybrid Wars title.
Described as a “nostalgic but modern take” on a classic 90’s shooter, Flipbook’s Andrew Lord said this is where they had taken their inspiration from:
“We designed a unique style for this cinematic, that blended 2D graphic-novel inspired backgrounds, with foreground CGI characters, machines and visual effects. Using a super-saturated colour palette and textures allowed us to create a punchy and vibrant visual journey through the explosive Hybrid Wars world.”
In the game, players face multiple enemies with a wide array of weapons and equipment and the Manchester studio wanted to represent this “relentless enemy offensive” in the two minute trailer.
“It’s 2 minutes of non-stop explosive action & destruction, so it’s not too clichéd to say that we had a blast making it! WG Labs really let us run with the design on this trailer and provided us with an excellent opportunity to highlight our studio’s capability. We look forward to revealing more of the work we’ve been creating for a wide range of projects throughout the rest of 2016 as our studio continues to grow,” continued Lord.
