Weber Shandwick’s Manchester office MD, Jo Leah, has been appointed Chair of English Regions and Wales for the company.

Leah has pulled in support for the role from one of the country’s top communicators and lobbyists Jon McLeod, who will join her leadership team.

McLeod, who is Chairman of Corporate, Financial & Public Affairs in Weber’s London practice will also act as special advisor to corporate clients including Aldi, Manchester Business School and will help drive a new property, energy and regeneration practice.

CEO of Weber Shandwick UK, Colin Byrne, said: “I have worked with Jo for well over a decade and been bowled over by her enthusiasm, not just for our business in the north but for changing the face of PR in the region. She has opened up a great line of business in Wales.”

The new position sees Weber Shandwick add to its existing £250k portfolio of Welsh clients which include tourism authorities, Meat Promotion Wales and the Bay Life inward investment campaign.

It is a high profile move for the PR entrepreneur who sold her business to IPG in 1997 and has run one of Weber’s best performing offices in Europe for the last 5 years.
