Exchange members ExodusHOME and INTELLITHING team up on AI energy trading platform

ExodusHOME, the Leeds-based, tech start-up for peer-to-peer energy trading has partnered with the customisable AI platform, INTELLITHING to advance its offering.

The two tech start-ups were both part of Exchange, the award-winning scale-up support programme, and met during their respective cohorts. Despite being based on either side of the Pennines, the businesses were introduced via the programme that fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the country.

Through the collaboration, ExodusHOME will integrate AI capabilities into its mobile app to provide users with personalised recommendations on reducing energy consumption. Those who reduce their consumption can trade their surplus energy with other homes, rewarding people for making smarter energy decisions.

INTELLITHING’s technology aims to start a generative AI ‘revolution’ by allowing businesses to develop their own customised applications. The no-code, drag-and-drop, and modular system means users can stack large language models and components to develop a unique application to tackle their individual challenges.

Liam Wright, CEO and co-founder at ExodusHOME, said: “Often to integrate a personalised tech system it takes months or even years to develop. This is further exacerbated by the shortage of software engineers available to develop new systems. Partnering with Saeid and the team at INTELLITHING has rapidly accelerated our development. Now with AI-generated insights tailored to each user’s energy habits, we can influence behaviour change and drive the adoption of our renewable energy marketplace. We can introduce content and services that are specific to the individual user and their energy consumption habits.

“Now we have the AI technology we are in the process of planning a pilot with a local university to create a fully off-grid building that mimics affordable housing. The project will showcase to local authorities how AI and financial incentives can make homes energy independent. Over time we hope this model will develop to help people be mindful about what energy they use and how. There is a chance that we will see long lasting behaviour change at scale.”

Saeid Jamali, CEO at INTELLITHING, added: “We were initially introduced by a mentor on Exchange as they understood the value INTELLITHING’s customisable system could bring to ExodusHOME’s application. We immediately saw an opportunity to combine our technologies to make a meaningful impact on the future of energy consumption. As an advisor and alumni of Exchange, I have had the privilege of supporting various early-stage tech businesses that are true innovators in their field. Partnering with ExodusHOME was a no-brainer if it meant it could bring some meaningful change to how we consume energy.”

Exchange supports pioneering founders who want to shape the future of the digital and tech world. The scheme empowers them to scale via free flexible workspace at Department, exclusive workshops and up-skill sessions, intimate high-profile speaker events, access to a community of like-minded start-up founders, meetings with the programme’s Entrepreneur in Residence and access to its partners.
