Happy Radio UK has signed former Emmerdale actor, Liam Fox, who played Dan Spencer.
Manchester-born Fox, will host The Saturday Sports Roundup show every Saturday between 2 and 6pm.
“After 12 years and 1,000 episodes of playing Emmerdale’s Dan Spencer, I’m so grateful to the Happy Radio team for giving me this opportunity for a fresh adventure!” he said.
“I’ve always dreamed of being both an actor and presenter, so to finally get behind the microphone with this exciting growing station is the perfect opportunity for me. Growing up as an avid listener of Piccadilly and Key 103 radio, I have always felt that local radio was massively important. Hopefully, I can play a small part in helping Happy Radio become the most listened to station in the Northwest!’
The station was launched in April 2022 by Radio Presenter & DJ, Darren Proctor; and Festival Organiser & Entrepreneur; Max Eden.
“We’re incredibly excited to add Liam Fox to our presenter line up, he’s a huge fan of the station and a sports fan so is the perfect choice to deliver a roundup of sport and events across Manchester, Cheshire and the North West along with playing fantastic music and sharing his knowledge and stories about his life growing up in Manchester,” they stated.
Proctor and Eden also confirmed that they were extending their DAB coverage by joining the new multiplex covering East Cheshire which includes Macclesfield, Poynton, Knutsford, Wilmslow, Altrincham and South Manchester, adding over half a million population to its DAB availability.
