Double Jeopardy! as ITV ups order for Stephen Fry-hosted quiz

ITV has commissioned a second series of the hit quiz format Jeopardy!, hosted by Stephen Fry and produced by Whisper North, and bumped up to 25x60m episodes against season one’s 20.

The 25 x 60min new episodes have been commissioned by ITV following the success of the first series, which was also produced by Whisper North, shot at dock10 in Salford, and shown on ITV1 and ITVX earlier this year.

Series one went out as part of ITV’s daytime schedule in January, launching with 2.5 million viewers and regularly attracting an average audience of over 1.6 million

Series two will once again be filmed at dock10 studios, at the end of September 2024, and is set to TX in 2025. Casting for contestants is due to start later this month.

Host Stephen Fry said: “Thrilled to be back at the Jeopardy! lectern for another series. Aside from the sheer entertainment value of the format, it’s especially wonderful to see contestants from all over the country revealing such wonderful, varied knowledge and quick wits.

“Thanks to ITV and to our audience. Here’s hoping the second series finds new devotees and unearths more astonishing contestants.”

Sunil Patel, Whisper CEO added: “Jeopardy! is a cultural phenomenon in the US and now, thanks to the brilliant talent of Stephen Fry and the skill of our amazing production team, it has become a fixture in living rooms across the UK.

“I’m delighted the show is being recommissioned. Jeopardy! is legendary and to be delivering it to a new generation of UK quiz fans on ITV is something very special. Whisper North continues to grow its successful slate and this commission confirms another stellar production in its portfolio.”

“Beyond that, this recommission generates further momentum within The Whisper Group and adds to our continuing multi-genre growth.”

Jeopardy! is a Whisper North production for ITV1 and ITVX. The executive producers are Kerri Reid, Tom McLennan and Stephen Fry. It’s been commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning, ITV, and Leanne Clarke, assistant commissioner ITV.

The original US quiz show is produced by Sony Pictures Television, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company which is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution along with the format rights.
