The search for the next singing sensation once again finds Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am taking up residence in Salford as the superstar coaches, and returning to their seats in the most iconic chairs on television.
Presenter Emma Willis is also back as host, presiding over all of the action.
This year’s winner will secure a recording contract with Universal’s label UMOD.
Episode One saw the coaches undertake the very first round of blind auditions, and things quickly turned competitive as Olly reminded the other coaches of the power of the block button. He said: “We actually have got the block buttons back again so that’s going to be fun, which means if I like a contestant and I don’t want any of these coaches to have one of them, I’ve only got one pick.”
We also saw couple Emily and Tom, who met whilst studying music at university, displaying some incredible chemistry on stage, perhaps unsurprisingly since Emily revealed she “fell in love with Tom for his voice.”
The return of the live audience following Covid restrictions was also a welcome addition, and they were left in tears when Tom Jones belted out a moving rendition of Crumble in tribute to his wife, who died of cancer in 2016. Jones said: “This is a very important song, I try to pick songs that mean a lot to me.”
The Voice UK is produced by Lifted Entertainment, part of ITV Studios. The Voice is an ITV Studios format, and airs weekly Saturday nights at 8pm on ITV.
