A US version of the hit UK game show Lingo will shoot at dock10 in August.
The CBS adaptation, hosted by Emmy Award-winning RuPaul Charles, will shoot from August 15-21 at the MediaCityUK studio, which also hosts the UK show. Charles also serves as executive producer.
The transatlantic transplant follows the success of ITV’s 2021 revival of the show, which originally aired in both US and UK versions in the eighties. The new ITV show was the highest-rated game show launch in its time period in nearly two decades, averaging audiences of £1.9m at launch. It has so far run for two seasons, totalling 90 episodes. The show is produced by Objective Media Group, which is also behind hit shows including The Cube and Peep Show.
Lingo sees teams of two face off in fast-paced puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal seemingly simple words. The winning teams of these early rounds then go head-to-head in a nerve-wracking and unpredictable prize showdown.
Based at the heart of MediaCityUK, dock10 is one of the UK’s leading television facilities, offering broadcasters, production companies and creative agencies the world-class facilities they need to produce award-winning content.
