Diane Morgan and Pippa Brown have co-written a new comedy pilot for BBC Two.
Lethal will also star Morgan, as Becky, a Bolton woman obsessed with America. But when her visa is denied, she comes up with Plan B – marry a prisoner on death row, get her Green Card and live the American Dream.
“Some people will walk through the parched desert to get into America, some will cross a vast ocean, only one woman is prepared to marry a maniac to get there. And that woman is me. Well, a woman I play. But I probably would too,” she said.
The comedy will air as part of the New on Two strand in 2021.
“Lethal is a cleverly conceived comic tour de force in which an ill-conceived plan soon spirals and unravels disastrously. In Becky, Diane gets to flex her well-honed comedy muscles with another sublime creation,” added Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning.
Morgan recently created, directed and starred in BBC Two’s Mandy, which originally started as a Comedy Short.
Co-writer, Pippa Brown is the Creative Director of Comedy at Lookout Point, she co-wrote and produced BBC One’s The Other One and her previous producing credits include BBC Three’s Bad Education and the subsequent movie, plus Psychobitches, which aired on Sky Arts.
Lethal is scheduled to be filmed in early 2021 with further casting details to be announced soon.
