Apple TV+ has announced a second series of the Peter Capaldi thriller, Criminal Record.
It’s made by STV Studios and Glasgow-based Tod Productions and stars Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It) as DCI Daniel Hegarty alongside Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight) and Paul Rutman (Vera, Indian Summers).
Set in London, the first series received critical acclaim.
“I’m thrilled that Apple has commissioned a second series of Criminal Record. I’m looking forward to working with Paul, our wonderful actors led by Peter and Cush, and our brilliant team again,” said Elaine Collins, MD, Tod Productions.
In the second season, June Lenker is the senior officer on the scene when a political rally is attacked by far-right counter-protestors.
The violent clash leaves a young man dead and Lenker, consumed with guilt, is desperate to bring the unknown killer to justice.
Her best hope is Hegarty, “now a key figure in the shadowy world of police intelligence”.
BAFTA Scotland Award winner Elaine Collins (Shetland, Vera) is joined by Chris Sussman (Trying, Good Omens) as executive producer for season two alongside Rutman, Capaldi and Jumbo.
