Liverpool comedian, and legendary DJ Craig Charles stars alongside James Costa in the upcoming comedy-horror indie, Zombie Apache, a nostalgic nod to the iconic 80s comedy-horror genre.
Charles’ co-star Jamie Costa went viral recently for his uncanny impersonation of Robin Williams, and shines in this role as an unlikely hero.
Charles, meanwhile, plays ‘Liverpool Joe’ in the film. He is probably best-known to audiences for playing Lister in long-running cult sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf, which ran for 12 seasons from 1988. He also appeared in Coronation Street from 2005 to 2015 and other TV work includes Robot Wars, Takeshi’s Castle, The Gadget Show, and Moneybags.
Offscreen, he has his own radio show with The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on weekdays and Saturdays on BBC 6 Music, where he explores the best in funk and soul from the roots of black music through to the current club sounds, featuring classic tracks, new releases, sessions and interviews, as well as a long-running residency at Manchester’s Band on the Wall.
The story of Zombie Apache unfolds as a greedy real estate developer desecrates a sacred Viking burial ground, unleashing a comical nightmare upon the unsuspecting locals. Release date TBC soon.
