Lime Pictures’ London office, which handled some of its major titles, including Towie, is set to close.
An All3Media spokesperson told Prolific North:
“After careful consideration we (All3Media) have decided to close Lime Pictures’ London base and propose transferring the production of future series of TOWIE, Celebs Go Dating, Geordie Shore and Vinnie Jones in the Country to Objective Media Group.
“There will be a number of proposed redundancies. These are always difficult decisions to take, and it is not a reflection of Lime’s performance, but in common with other media companies, we are making cost efficiencies across our business because of a challenging market. We would like to thank the Lime London team for all that they have done and wish them every future success.”
London-based Lion TV, which had fallen under Lime’s control in 2019 is also likely to be moved elsewhere in the organisation.
All3Media also confirmed to Prolific North that there were no proposed changes for Lime Liverpool nor Leeds-based Wise Owl Films.
The news comes just days after Lime’s joint Managing Directors announced they were leaving later this year.
Lime was formed in the 80s as Mersey Television, by Phil Redmond, producing the likes of Brookside, Grange Hill and Hollyoaks.
It was acquired by All3Media in 2005. All3Media was itself bought earlier this year by RedBird IMI for £1.15bn, its largest investment to date.
