Gary Lineker, Marcus Rashford, Tim Peake and Geri Horner will be among the celebrity supply teachers delivering lockdown lessons in a new CBBC series beginning on June 8th.

Celebrity Supply Teacher (20 x 10’), made by BBC Children’s In-House Productions, aims to offer a “unique learning experience” and insight into the life of the celebrities and the things that inspire them.

The lessons are loosely based around the primary curriculum and cover topics ranging from science to English, maths to history and cookery to dance.

Horner, who kicks off the series on June 8th, said: “I absolutely love writing – it’s a passion, so sharing the power of words on CBBC was a lot of fun. Together we can transport ourselves and create exciting magical stories.”

Peake offers a lesson about space on June 9th, including his tips for surviving in space, including how to eat, drink and go to the toilet. He will also use household materials to create his own rocket and rocket launcher.

Manchester United and England star Rashford will treat viewers to a masterclass on preparing your body for sport, including stretches and warm up drills on June 10th.

Emmerdale actors – and off-screen married couple – Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry will share their love of gardening (June 11th) and chef Heston Blumenthal will explain the difference between taste and flavour and show how to make the ultimate strawberry sundae (June 12th).

He said: “It was certainly a very different way of filming but it was a lot of fun being CBBC’s Celebrity Supply Teacher for a day. There are so many exciting and delicious things to learn in the kitchen and it all starts with finding out how our senses work together to create flavour so this was the theme of my lesson.

“I chose to make a strawberry ice cream sundae which I hope inspires the younger viewers and their families to get cooking and begin a deeper relationship with their food.”

Later in the series, Match of the Day presenter and former England football captain Lineker will introduce CBBC viewers to the Spanish language. Lineker became fluent in the language during his time playing for Barcelona.

He will teach how to count from one to 10 while playing keepie uppie in his garden – before moving on to other useful words and phrases.

He said: “I am delighted to be involved with CBBC’s Celebrity Supply Teacher series. Learning Spanish when I moved to Barcelona in 1986 was good fun. It helped me then and ever since. Enjoy the experience. It’s exciting.”

In other episodes, Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe nominated artist Matthew Morrison will share his insights into musical theatre; singer Kelis, who trained to be a chef at a top school in Paris, will share some of her cookery tips; Ricky Wilson, lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs and former art teacher, will show viewers how to improve their painting; Dame Darcey Bussell will demonstrate traditional African dance moves; BBC religious affairs correspondent Martin Bashir will give a masterclass on his hero, Dr Martin Luther King.

Julie Hesmondhalgh provides the voice over for the series, which will be on CBBC and BBC iPlayer from Monday June 8th.
