The newly re-monikered EM Code (Code Computerlove) has released an AI-driven General Election tool.
Promising “just 100% manifestos and pledges” the Manchester agency said the platform was to help younger voters make informed decisions.
It comes after research showed that 27% of 25-34 year olds were not interested in the election, with many opting not to vote at all. 44% said they feared that the election would polarise the country.
The EssenceMediacom survey of 501 people also found that trust in the government and media was at a 10 year low and half of voters being wary of being misled by false promises and 49% fact-checking claims made by politicians.
The same research showed that 37% of respondents believed the media provided fair coverage, 35% saw it as neutral, and 26% viewed it as biased.
The site, Who Should I Vote For, was created to address some of these issues.
It features an Election Assistant to answer questions about parties, policies, and the voting process; a Policy Breakdown to provide and compare party policies; and a Find Your Party quiz, to guide users to a party based on their values and concerns.
“Recognising AI’s influence on our everyday lives, we started by exploring current tools available and identified an untapped opportunity,” explained Louis Georgiou, Chief Creative and Technology Officer at EssenceMediacom and Co-Founder of EM Code.
“We created a dedicated, unbiased platform that ignores all commentary and tabloid agendas to help people understand party positions on key issues. In just 10 working days we took the platform from a concept to launch. We hope by simplifying the process of understanding the manifestos we will be able to encourage more of those under the age of 35 to be interested and ultimately vote.”
Manchester-based EM Code was acquired by MediaCom in 2016. EssenceMediacom North is part of WPP’s media investment group, GroupM.
