Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank has launched a new banking brand experience in Manchester.

B Works is a 3-storey retail space which is hoped will “re-establish the physical relationship between a bank and its customers.”

I-AM worked with the bank’s digital team to design and brand the operation on Market Street.

It includes a flexible co-working space, meeting rooms, hot desks, long term desks, a cafe, training programmes and an open event zone.

“The role of the bank is changing, and the reality is that more customers are choosing to bank digitally. We need to continually reimagine what we offer to customers across our channels to ensure we remain relevant – B Works revolutionises that in-store experience,” explained Helen Page, B’s Group Innovation and Marketing Director.

During workshops, I-AM asked how a bank might look if it were designed by a high street brand like Urban Outfitters. From that, the B Works concept emerged.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to work alongside the team from CYBG. I think between us, we’ve created something very special for Manchester and in the long-term laid down a marker for the future of high street banking,” added Jon Blakeney, I-AM Group Managing Director.

Also included within the building is a retail exhibition space, which will launch in partnership with a global fashion brand, to showcase how B can assist with local business growth.
