Clive Myrie podcast asks if Manchester City is at risk of “losing it all”

Life-long Manchester City fan, Clive Myrie, is hosting a special podcast series examining the charges facing Manchester City.

The club has been in a legal battle with the Premier League for more than 2 years, after being handed 115 Financial Fair Play charges. Some reports suggest that the club could face a “60-100 point deduction” if the verdict – expected next month – goes against them.

In Football on Trial: The Manchester City Charges Myrie will explore the club’s history, from the ownership of former exile and ex-Thai prime minister Taksin Shinawatra, to Sheikh Mansour, who purchased the club for £200m in 2008.

It will also examine the ongoing legal battle, which stems from data leaks reported by German newspaper, Der Spiegel.

“You’d struggle to find someone who hadn’t heard of Manchester City or one of their players in recent years, but there’s a lot of information people might not know about this high-profile case,” explained Myrie.

“I’ll be exploring the club’s history, the intricacies of the charges and the reaction to the final verdict throughout this series.”

Among the guests on the podcast are former Manchester City player Nedum Onuoha, Der Spiegel data journalist Christoph Winterbach, sports lawyer Nick De Marco, sports broadcaster and producer Emily Brobyn, Manchester City FC Official Supporters Club General Secretary Kevin Parker.

The initial 4 episodes will be followed by reactive shows once the final verdict is announced.
