Chief executive leaves Steve Coogan’s production company

The chief executive of Steve Coogan’s indie production company has left to launch her own outfit.

Christine Langan has left Baby Cow Productions to set up Bonnie Productions, which will will develop scripted TV and film projects.

During her four years at Baby Cow, she’s overseen the development and production of the likes of BBC1’s This Time with Alan Partridge and Stan and Ollie.

She will stay as producer on Baby Cow feature film The Lost King from Stephen Frears, which shoots next year. Managing director Sarah Monteith will take on her role in the interim, with Coogan continuing to provide editorial leadership.

Langan told Deadline that she was “excited to be following my passion for film drama and launching my own projects”.

BBC Studios became a shareholder in the company in 2008 and has been its majority owner since 2016.

Its chief creative officer Mark Linsey said: “Christine goes with our heartfelt thanks for her inspiring creative vision and proven experience creating hits for both the small and the big screen. We wish her every success in her next move.”
