Channel 4 has commissioned a 4-part series from True North in Leeds.
Yorkshire By The Sea will celebrate the people and landscape around the county’s coastline.
“We’re clearly biased, but this series combines the most glorious coastal landscape with the warmth and wit of genuine Yorkshire characters, telling their fascinating stories in their own words,” said Christian Hills, Executive Producer for True North.
The 100-mile stretch of shoreline is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations and will look at resorts including Saltburn and Scarborough, as well as those “everyday grafters” who make their living from the sea.
It will also explore how the county is seeking to combat climate change.
“This beautiful series will showcase the breath-taking landscape of the Yorkshire coastline, but also show how communities are facing – and tackling – the impact of the climate crisis in their daily lives,” said Channel 4 Commissioner Jasper Hone.
Hone commissioned Yorkshire By The Sea (4×60’) with Channel 4’s Head of Lifestyle & Glasgow Hub, Jo Street.
Andrew Painten is Series Producer and Ben Sheldon is Series Director. The series will be distributed internationally by Passion.
