Channel 4 is looking to build a digital community around the new series of the Manchester-based comedy, Fresh Meat with an “immersive online experience” going live immediately after the first show.
Fresh Meat Unlocked will have exclusive filmed and interactive content, with viewers able to play with the smart phones of the characters to “unveil the inner workings of their minds.” Should you log on via your own smart phone, it will “turn into” your favourite housemate’s device. There will also be proper advice for students about university life from a Student Counsellor’s page.
It’s all part of Channel 4’s new viewer engagement strategy, where registered users can get exclusive content, including online premieres.
Objective Productions has made 8×45 minute episodes of the series, which were filmed in studios at The Sharp Project.
Created by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (Peep Show, Babylon), it stars Jack Whitehall, Greg McHugh, Charlotte Richie, Zawe Ashton and Kimberley Nixon.
The first episode of the new series will debut on 4oD, before airing on Channel 4 on Mondays at 10pm.
