One of the favourite housemates on the current series of Celebrity Big Brother will be heading to the North East this summer.
Superstar scouse drag queen Danny Beard has proved himself a huge hit in the house and is currently tipped as favourite to win this year’s show. Now he will also be making his way to Tyneside on Saturday 30 August, for a special concert as part of Pride in Gateshead.
This year’s Pride in Gateshead event, organised by charity Out North East and partners Gateshead Council and Gateshead College, will feature a month-long programme of activities across the borough.
And that will culminate in a live concert – Pride on Tyne with Lumo – at Baltic Square.
Along with the top drag queen, the line-up includes singer Betty Boo – best known for her song Doin’ The Do – and Union J’s Jaymi Hensley.
The packed programme will also feature local artiste, Lorraine Crosby, The Future is Queer, Olly Alexander Tribute and drag, courtesy of the Tipsy Divas.
The whole day is being hosted by Ophelia Balls and the team at Pride Radio.

The concert is being sponsored by train company, Lumo, and Martijn Gilbert, managing director said the company was delighted to be supporting the event: “We are thrilled to be supporting Pride in Gateshead once again, and to play our part in creating a space where everyone is welcome, seen and celebrated.”
“This year’s celebration will feature the return of the main stage partnered with Lumo, where you can expect to see an incredible line-up of performances that truly capture the spirit of Pride.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to come together and show our continued support for the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.”
Peter Darrant, chair of Out North East said the concert would be the culmination of a busy month across Gateshead:
“We have an incredible programme of events taking place in Gateshead during August and we are thrilled to once again be able to stage a fantastic free concert at Baltic Square,” he explained.
“We are so grateful to Lumo for once again coming on board to partner with us and we hope their support will inspire another company to fill the last remaining space we have for a partner for the day.
“Their support – and that of our other sponsors – allows us to keep this event free and open to everyone.”
Although the concert is free, numbers are limited so anyone interested in attending needs to register for a free ticket at www.outnortheast.org.uk
