TeamGB Paralympian, Lora Fachie, will read CBeebies first ever Bedtime Story in braille, on World Sight Day.
The gold medallist will appear with her guide dog Tai to tell the story of a boy whose class mates think he can read in a secret code only to discover it is, in fact, braille.
“I am over the moon to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story for the first time in braille,” said Fachie.
“I have always enjoyed reading and hope this will encourage everyone to want to read whether they use their eyes, their ears, their fingers or a secret code. Reading feeds the imagination and I will be reading to my little one from the minute they are born!”
The Secret Code was written by Dana Meachen Rau, and illustrated by Bari Weissman. In another first, Weissman’s pictures are also being audio-described.
The braille transcription was provided by Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
The story will air on Thursday, October 13th to coincide with World Sight Day. This is the first of two stories she has recorded for CBeebies.
