The NW Ambulance Service has called in a Manchester PR firm to run a campaign about 999 calls.
The #team999 campaign is designed to educate the public that a 999 call doesn’t necessarily always need an ambulance or result in a trip to hospital.
Explaining the appointment of Tangerine PR for the campaign, Sarah Smith, Assistant Director of Communications for NWAS, said it would be “both refreshing and insightful.”
“While the traditional media aspects will play an integral role, Tangerine’s approach is very much focused on developing engaging social media content to profile each of the #Team999 representatives, which we hope will enable us to reach new audiences online.
“We now look forward to hearing the public’s feedback on the #Team999 brand and their response as they learn more about the various care pathways that can result from calling 999.”
The NW Ambulance Service NHS Trust is the second largest of its kind in the UK, and provides 24 hour accident and emergency support across the North West.
The campaign will profile six roles which form part of the emergency ambulance service such as emergency medical dispatcher, specialist paramedic on the urgent care desk, resource dispatcher, rapid response paramedic, an ambulance crew consisting of a paramedic and emergency medical technician and the hazardous area response team (HART).
Mary Harding, consumer MD at Tangerine PR, said: “ Over the coming months, our aim is to showcase the roles and responsibilities of the amazing individuals that work within NWAS, to ensure that the public has a greater understanding of the service and how it helps its patients get the right care.”
