Manchester’s Home and Film4 have announced the programme for the third annual season of horror extravaganza, FilmFear.

The programme includes everything from cult favourites to supernatural noirs, celebrating the talent of cutting-edge horror features from around the globe.

Highlights include John Carpenter’s They Live, Sam Raimi’s chilling debut The Evil Dead, and Mandy starring Nicolas Cage.

The event kicks off with acclaimed Scandi fantasy Border, co-written by the author of Let the Right One In. It is one of 7 new international films to be screened over the 6-day event.

“It’s great to be returning with the FilmFear season for a third year, with a programme of films we’re excited to be sharing with the HOME audience. Horror comes in so many different forms, and this year’s line-up celebrates that variety both in terms of subject and style,” said Film 4’s channel editor, David Cox.

The FilmFear season will run from 26th-31st October, and can be viewed at HOME or on Film4.

Jennifer Hall, film programme producer at HOME, added:

“We’re thrilled to be welcoming back FilmFear to HOME for a third year, in collaboration with Film4. From Nicolas Cage to Nunsploitation, this year’s programme is a real Halloween treat for horror-hungry fans. We’re looking forward to unleashing this stand-out selection of the best new horror from across the globe alongside classic horror titles, and to welcoming some very special guests.”
