ITV Studios Daytime is making a one-off documentary to mark This Morning’s 30th anniversary in October.
It will go back to its first transmission on 3rd October 1988 from Liverpool’s Albert Dock, right through to the present day.
Narrated by Joanna Lumley, it will feature hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford and Fern Britton, as well as a number of celebrity guests.
The 1x90minute special will air in peak time on ITV.
“Generations have grown up with This Morning, and its influence cannot be underestimated – on viewers and on what we watch. It’s the perfect moment to highlight the impact of one of the country’s longest running shows,” said executive producer, Sue Walton.
The documentary will look at the big breaks it gave to the likes of Charlotte Church and Simon Cowell, as well as its firsts, from trialling Viagra live on national TV, to hosting TV’s first gay wedding.
“It’s so easy to get lost in clip after clip of the laughs and bloopers that frequently happen on This Morning. I can’t wait to indulge in a full 90 mins of backstage gossip and memorable archive,” added ITV’s commissioning editor, Nicola Lloyd.
