True North to produce Gok Wan-fronted series for TLC

Discovery-owned UK lifestyle network TLC has commissioned True North to produce a regional version of its Say Yes to the Dress format, to be hosted by Gok Wan.

The spin-off (10×60) will travel to Ava Rose Hamilton, an award-winning boutique in the heart of Lancashire. Wan will team with boutique owner Paula Chappell and her dress- obsessed consultants to guide the most demanding of brides to find the perfect bridal gown and say ‘yes’ to the dress.

Wan said: “I’ve always been a fan of ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and loved making the special so I jumped at the opportunity to do ‘Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire’. Me saying yes to the show was probably easier than the brides saying yes to the dress!”

The series was ordered by Discovery’s Clare Laycock and Charlotte Reid is the commissioner at the network. Deirdre Dowling is the executive producer for TLC and Jo Haddock is the executive producer for True North.

Jess Fowle, creative director at Leeds-based True North, added: “Say Yes To The Dress is an incredibly well-loved brand so we are very proud to work with Gok and TLC to give it a new northern vibe. We’re sure that viewers – both old and new – are going to love our funny, feisty brides and the passionate team at Ava Rose Hamilton.”

In the past 12 months, True North has made and transmitted more than 150 hours of content for channels including BBC One, Channel 4, Channel 5 and MTV.
