Paul Lockitt is to join BBC Radio Manchester next month as a newsreader on Chelsea Norris’ new breakfast show.

It will be a reunion for the pair, who spent 11 years together at Key 103.

Norris takes over the show on 19th March, with Lockitt joining as her newsreader on 23rd April.

“It’s going to be brilliant to be back broadcasting with Locko. He is a radio legend. We’re old friends and that translates so well on air,” she said.

“He may have thought he escaped me but I would never let him get away!”

Lockitt has been broadcasting on breakfast shows in Manchester for almost 30 years and has won newsreader of the year 5 times.

“Chelsea and I just clicked. We get on great and I know we’re going to have a lot of fun together each morning on Radio Manchester,” he stated.

“Moving to the BBC is really exciting and I can’t wait to be reunited on air again with Chelsea – even if it means resetting my alarm for stupid o’clock.”

Kate Squire, managing editor of BBC Radio Manchester added:

“I’m sure most people in Greater Manchester will have heard at least one of Paul’s news bulletins. He’s been reading the news for more than a quarter of a century and is one of the best in the business.

“I’m so pleased to pair him with Chelsea again. We’re building a new breakfast show which I really think our listeners are going to love.”
