A new series will follow Matt Baker’s return to Yorkshire to help rescue his family farm.
Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales is a 4 x 60 minute series from his new production company Big Circus Media. It will air on More4.
Baker grew up on the sheep farm in the Durham hills and still plays an active role. However, following a serious accident to his mother, he’s now moved his wife and 2 children north, to run the farm.
The series will show 3 generations of the Baker family as they make decisions for the future of the business. Matt Baker will also call on the services of local experts and learn traditional craft and heritage skills.
“This is without doubt the most personal TV show I’ve ever made. Filming on the farm where I grew up with my whole family has been a wonderful and unique experience,” he said.
“It’s also my producing and directorial debut with our new production company so it couldn’t be more personal. A huge thank you to Sean at More4, it’s amazing what can happen from a conversation in a barn….”
The series was commissioned by Channel 4’s Deputy Head of Formats & Features Sean Doyle:
“We are delighted that Matt and his family will be opening to the doors to their beautiful rural farm on More4. The series is a warm, funny, and often emotional look at what it takes for a close-knit family, ably assisted by an eclectic mix of animals, to pull together in the face of adversity.”
Baker is Creative Director of Big Circus Media, which he founded last year with Managing Director, Gareth Collett, the former Head of Development for BBC Studios.
