Tonight’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s gig at Manchester’s Co-op Live, scheduled to be the venue’s first public performance following two postponements of its planned opening nights and a heavily scaled-back test event, has been cancelled at the last minute.

The venue posted on Twitter (X) at 6.40pm: “Due to a venue-related technical issue, tonight’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie show will no longer go ahead. We kindly ask fans to leave the area. Tickets holders will receive further information in due course.”

Hundreds of people were reported to be in the queue for the long awaited debut of the UK’s new biggest arena, and BBC North West Tonight reported that fans already inside the building were asked to leave.

The Manchester Evening News’s Jenna Campbell, reporting live from the venue, also said that fans had been asked to “leave the arena” just ten minutes before the opening act was due on stage.

Future May gigs scheduled at the troubled arena, should they go ahead, are:

  • 3, 4 – Olivia Rodrigo
  • 5 – Keane
  • 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 – Take That
  • 14 – Elbow
  • 15 – Black Keys (rescheduled)
  • 18 – Eric Clapton
  • 19 – Barry Manilow
  • 23, 24 – Peter Kay (rescheduled)
  • 25, 30 – Nicki Minaj

The internet was a predictably cruel place in the wake of the latest setback:
