Blue Peter marks 65th birthday with Prince William

The Prince of Wales will be awarded a green Blue Peter badge during the show’s 65th anniversary celebrations.

Filmed at Dock10, MediaCity, Blue Peter is the longest running children’s television show in the world and first introduced its badges 60 years ago, in 1963.

The green badge recognises Prince William’s work with The Earthshot Prize, a search for the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.

Previous recipients include The Princess of Wales, Sir David Attenborough, Greta Thunberg, Steve Backshall, Chris Packham and Megan McCubbin.

This evening’s anniversary show will see current presenters Abby Cook and Joel Mawhinney joined by former hosts Matt Baker, Lindsey Russell and Radzi Chinyanganya.

Blue Peter is a BBC Studios Kids & Family Production for CBBC. The Blue Peter 65th Birthday special is at 5pm, Friday 13 October, CBBC and BBC iPlayer.
