Manchester agency Meanwhile, founded by the BAFTA-winning former BBC Creative chiefs James Cross and Tim Jones, has released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of its new campaign film for Chester Zoo’s winter Lanterns and Light trail.

The campaign saw Meanwhile work alongside Sony Music/RGL, Blinkink director Isabel Garrett and Major Tom music supervisor Jacob Wheeler, who created the soundtrack for the work.

The work uses a mix of techniques, with live-action and handcrafted miniature sets mixed with 2D animated characters to give a hint of the magic that awaits visitors at the forthcoming spectacular.

The zoo says of this year’s Winter treat: “Explore new captivating light installations and be transported into enchanting lands filled with colour and festivity, where you can meet orangutans, lions, dolphins and woolly mammoths as you make your way along the trail!

“Wonder at the colour changing displays stretching as far as the eye can see, while birds and stars adorn the zoo’s winding paths and trees. Take a walk through the spectacular Winter Cathedral tunnel of lights and even catch a glimpse of Father Christmas in his sleigh.”
