Broadcast PR consultancy Be Broadcast and the Manchester team at JustGiving have joined forces to support a seven-year-old boy from Warrington on a mission to raise £20,000 for the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Harvey Goodman’s cousin, Zak, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, and is determined to help other children there as well.

On Saturday 1st April and Sunday 2nd April, Harvey will walk 40 miles from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to Old Trafford Football Stadium in Manchester. His challenge has received support from former Manchester United player Sammy McIlroy, his school, friends, and family members, who plan to walk alongside him. Around 200 people are also expected to wait at the finish line at Old Trafford Stadium on April 2nd to show their support. He’s also appeared on Sky News, talking to Kay Burley about his charity walk.

Josh Wheeler, Gaydio presenter and founder of Manchester-based Be Broadcast, said: “We’ve loved working with Harvey – he’s absolutely going to be one of the North West’s future shining stars as when he puts his mind to it, there is no stopping him.”

Emily Penkett, Head of UK PR for JustGiving, added: “Harvey is a little superstar! We’ve been so impressed by his drive and determination to complete this big walk. You’ve got this Harvey! Good Luck from all of us at JustGiving!”

According to Harvey’s mother, Naiomi, Harvey came up with the fundraising idea himself in response to hearing the news that his cousin Zak had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. “He is so kindhearted and always wants to put others first. I never imagined we would be here again, one year on from his first fundraising walk about to undertake a 40-mile walk,” she said.

The fundraising effort has already surpassed its original target of £10,000 with the current total standing at £17,282. The team has now updated their goal to £20,000 and are calling for help from the community in Manchester to show their support and donate to his JustGiving page here to help him reach his new goal of £20,000.
