The BBC has announced the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards will take place at dock10, MediaCity, in Salford this year.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott will present the BBC One show in front of a live studio audience which will also be broadcast to viewers at home to support unsung heroes and champions in sport.
After cancellations and postponements of major sporting events throughout 2020, 2021 marked the return of sport with England’s efforts to reach the final of the Euros alongside the return of the Olympics and Paralympics.
Director of Sport, Barbara Slater, said: “With sporting events getting back to some normality and our teams and athletes achieving great things, this year has been one of the most memorable for many reasons. The awards ceremony in Salford will have a lot to reflect on and it’s something the whole BBC Sport team are looking forward to delivering on December 19.”
In 2020, the ceremony was filmed at dock10’s studios at MediaCity and will take place this year on December 19th.
