BBC One has returned to Shibden Hall in Halifax for the second series of Sally Wainwright’s Gentleman Jack.

Filming is underway on the award-winning drama, which stars Suranne Jones as Anne Lister, with Sophie Rundle reprising her role as Ann Walker.

It’s a Lookout Point production for BBC One, co-produced with HBO.

Set in 1834, the drama also stars Gemma Whelan, Timothy West, Stephanie Cole, Peter Davison and Amelia Bullmore.

Joanna Scanlan (No Offence, The Thick Of It) will join series two in the role of Anne Lister’s outrageous former lover Isabella ‘Tib’ Norcliffe.

Gentleman Jack’s production team will adhere to “comprehensive protocols to ensure that the new series is produced in a safe and responsible manner”.
