BBC Radio 5 live’s Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy won three Gold Awards at last night’s ARIAS (Audio and Radio Industry Awards).
Andrew Flintoff was named Best Presenter, with the series picking up Best New Programme and Best Podcast.
“It’s three friends having a chat about life. I’m just pleased that other people obviously enjoy it as much as we love making it!” said Flintoff after the event in Leeds.
Stephen Nolan also got a Gold, for coverage of the London Bridge Attacks, while Nicky Campbell and Rachel Burden won Best Speech Presenter Breakfast.
The station also won Sports Show of the Year for 5 Live Sport.

Our listeners trust us when big news breaks and our presenters deal with these heart breaking stories with warmth and compassion. And we have a sports team led by editor Mike Carr that delivers the greatest range of programming in the 90 year history of BBC radio sport,” said Jonathan Wall, controller of BBC Radio 5 live.
Key 103 won Best Community Programme for its coverage of the Manchester Bombing. It also picked up a Gold for Best Coverage of an Event for Manchester’s Response to the Arena Attack.
Gemma Atkinson won a bronze award in the new presenter category.
BBC Radio Leeds scooped Bronzes in the Best News Category and for Liz Green’s Breakfast Show.
BBC Radio Manchester’s Mike Sweeney came behind Iain Lee and Jeremy Vine in Best Speech Presenter – non Breakfast.
In the Best Factual Storytelling category, BBC Radio Merseyside got a Silver for Hillsborough: Trevor and Jenni’s Journey.
Local Station of the Year went to BBC Radio London, followed by BBC Radio Merseyside and Metro Radio.
