BBC Radio 1Xtra has announced a series of outreach events in Liverpool, to accompany its annual 1Xtra Live event.
Running from September 22nd, in association with LIMF Academy, it will offer 16-24 year olds in the city a chance to learn about the industry.
This will include the music and broadcast side, with the likes of promoters, SJM; Chris Price, the head of music at the Radio 1 and 1Xtra; Grammy award winning producer, Steve Levine; and Peter Guy, the founder of GetIntoThis.
BBC Academy staff will also talk about how to get a job in the media, as well as offering taster sessions.
“1Xtra Live is the station’s biggest event of the year and to be able to work with so many ambitious and enthusiastic young people in Liverpool in the lead up to the event is a massive bonus. I can’t wait to see what talent we come across,” said Yasmin Evans, Radio 1Xtra DJ.
The station will also be broadcasting live shows from the city, with DJ Target setting up at BBC Merseyside on 2nd October, to showcase local talent.
“Our presenters and outreach team are really looking forward to taking part in this programme of inspiring events – we love sharing our skills and knowledge with enthusiastic young people and in return we learn a lot from them,” added Louise Kattenhorn, Radio 1 and 1Xtra editor.
