BBC Breakfast, based at MediaCity, Salford, has officially announced Sally Nugent as its new regular presenter on the morning news show.
In the new role, she will present the television show alongside regular presenters Dan Walker, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt from Monday to Wednesday.
She will “take the reins” from BBC Breakfast presenter and journalist Louise Minchin, who worked on the show for almost 20 years and officially left the show in September.
Nugent was born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, and initially started her career at BBC Radio Merseyside.
She has worked as a journalist for 25 years, in various roles at the BBC including BBC North West Tonight and BBC News, and has worked with the BBC Breakfast team as a sports presenter for more than a decade.
Her appointment follows securing BBC documentaries and exclusive interviews with stars including Marcus Rashford MBE.
Sally Nugent said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to become the new presenter of BBC Breakfast and bring the nation the latest news, top entertainment guests and stories that matter every week. It’s an honour to take the reins from Louise and be part of the UK’s most watched breakfast show.”
BBC Breakfast Editor, Richard Frediani said: “We are delighted to have her take her new permanent place in the studio alongside Dan, Charlie and Naga.”
