BBC Creative has launched its eagerly awaited Eurovision Song Contest 2023 campaign, highlighting the creative and quirky ways audiences in the UK can ‘get ready’ to watch the world’s biggest song contest.

The lively  60-second clip encourages the UK, and a few famous faces, to host their own Eurovision viewing parties, with cameos from familiar Eurovision faces Graham Norton and Rylan, and superfans Nigella Lawson along with Liverpool’s own The Vivienne. There are also nods to Eurovision staples including flags and a buffet, all set to a reworked version of Gina G’s barnstorming 1996 Eurovision anthem, Ohh Ahh…Just a Little Bit.

BBC Creative turns Eurovision hype man

Kate Phillips, BBC director of unscripted, said: “We couldn’t be more proud and excited to give our audiences such a huge array of world class Eurovision content. It’s an honour for the BBC to host the show on behalf of Ukraine, and we’re committed to do them proud. The level of collaboration and coordination across so much of the output is truly amazing. Let the Eurovision Song Contest begin.”

The UK is hosting this year’s contest on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine, and for the first time ever, the Eurovision Semi-Finals along with Grand Final will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Semi-Final 1 kicks off proceedings from 8pm on Tuesday 9th May followed by Semi-Final 2 on Thursday 11th May at 8pm. The Grand Final on Saturday 13th May at 8pm will bring proceedings to a close when the winner of Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is crowned.
