Asda has called a review of its creative account, which is currently held by AMV BBDO.

The Leeds-based supermarket appointed the London-based agency in April 2018, ahead of Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett and J Walter Thompson London.

The review comes just weeks after the departure of chief customer officer Anna-Maree Shaw, who left after less than a year in the job.

An Asda spokesman said: “As the needs of our customers – and the way we talk to them continue to evolve and change, we have taken the decision to retender our lead creative agency, in a pitch process starting later this month.”

AMV BBDO recently worked on Asda’s Christmas campaign, featuring real life Asda superfan Sunny and his family celebrating at home.

Prior to that it had launched the Asda Price campaign, bringing back the famous Asda pocket tap, which had first featured in its ads in 1977.
