Senior changes at Buffalo 7

Buffalo 7 has announced a series of promotions within its senior team, including a new managing director, creative director and senior designer.

Richard Barnes, the agency’s founder and creative director, has moved across to take on the managing director role.

His position has been filled by Michelle Sussams, formerly head of creative.

“Becoming creative director is an ambition realised. I’ve always been quietly ambitious but I’ve just focused on getting my head down and doing good work,” she said.

“As Creative Director, I’ll work on the front line of all our design work, supporting and guiding the studio throughout the entire creative process. It’s up to me to lead the creatives, making sure we’re inspired and striving to the push boundaries of PowerPoint.”

Buffalo 7 points to statistics from The Movement, which show that just 11% of creative directors are women.

The shifting of staff, means that Hannah Tyson has been promoted to senior designer, while the firm has also promoted Felicity Chivers to senior project manager to help lead its client work.

“It’s fantastic to be able to fill roles that are so pivotal to our future success from within the existing ranks. All three of the newly promoted individuals have shown exceptional ability, dedication and commitment to what we’re trying to build at Buffalo 7,” said CEO Lyndon Nicholson.

“Furthermore, the fact that the creative, development and project management teams are now all female-led demonstrates that we’re a business free of bias on any grounds other than raw talent.”

Nicholson will be delivering a keynote at this year’s Prolific North Live with the title: “PowerPoint’s Not Dead, Your Imagination Is.
