Former footballer and manager Harry Redknapp has been appointed as a Global Ambassador for a Manchester-based healthtech working on a multipurpose COVID health passport.
Redknapp has backed V-Health Passport (VHP), a product of technology firm VST Enterprises and founded by Louis-James Davis, and will highlight the importance of using the secure VCode digital technology behind V-Health Passport.
Along with Sir Kenny Dalglish MBE and former sporting minister Richard Caborn, Redknapp will pioneer a campaign to make entertainment venues safe via V-Health Passport. The digital health passport has been used in over 80 countries with the intention of helping people return to work, travel and events.
In August it was announced that VHP had partnered with Xerox to deliver the service to clients around the UAE and wider region.
Redknapp’s role was established through VHP’s Brian Melzack, and delivery partner Tutum Workplace, which is delivering workplace COVID testing for businesses in hospitality and leisure, retail, construction, manufacturing and more.
Redknapp said: “I felt this was a great idea and something I wanted to get involved in… Anything that can help people feel safe when they go out to venues, bars, restaurants is great. This is going to help people and we want to see people get back to normality safely and I feel this is a great way of helping to do that.
“The pass is a double-edged sword – you can use it not just to prove that you had a test or vaccine, but the same pass is your ticket for entry too, you have it all on the one app…
“I’m looking forward to using it and hopefully everybody else get to use it too.”
