Channel 4 has made two senior appointments to its new Digital Content Unit.
Janine Smith, who was previously ITV’s Head of Digital Entertainment has been named as its Digital Content Director, based in Leeds.
Meanwhile former Nations and Regions Executive, Laura Marks, has been promoted to Digital Content Commissioner and will work out of its Glasgow office.
“Janine is an award-winning director with a proven track record in leading and executing industry-leading content campaigns, and I’m delighted she’s joined our team,” said Matt Risley, Head of the DCU.
“Laura has a wealth of experience in commissioning original multiplatform content in comedy and entertainment which is going to be invaluable to the DCU.”
The Digital Content Unit (which is currently the working title of the operation) has been established to ensure Channel 4 engages and influences with young audiences.
Content will be developed and tailored to maximise reach and viewing across key social channels.
Smith will lead a recruitment drive to find creatives for the DCU and also oversee the delivery of its cross-platform strategy and branded content campaigns.
