Anthony Hopkins signs for Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds’ dream of taking Wrexham AFC to the Premier League may be at least a few seasons off yet, but the Deadpool star keeps winning the title in the football social media game.

As the transfer window shut ahead of the weekend, Reynold’s took to Twitter (X) to announce that his North Wales League Two wonders had “picked up a key player in the transfer window,” none other than Silence of the Lambs and The Father star, double Oscar winner, and proud Welshman Anthony Hopkins.

Hopkins is seen going full method for his latest role as Wrexham’s mascot, Wrex the Dragon in the clip. “Hear Me Roar,” Hopkins, well, roars in the club dressing room, before pulling on a fluffy red dragon head and heading pitch side to hype up Wrexham’s fans.

The clip, which clocked up close to 2m views on Reynold’s Twitter over the weekend, also conveniently served as an ad for Stok Cold Brew Coffee, the official stadium sponsor of Wrexham AFC.
