Clogau, the prestigious Welsh jewellery brand known for its ties to the British royal family, has appointed brand building marcomms agency, Smoking Gun.
Smoking Gun has been retained to deliver strategic media relations to support the brand’s expansion, including both bricks and mortar stores and its ecommerce shop.
The brief encompasses national profiling and local community initiatives to help broaden the brand’s appeal and reach new audiences. The brand joins Smoking Gun’s existing lifestyle portfolio, which also includes Interflora and Landmann BBQs.
Matt Rycroft, Clogau’s marketing manager, said: “We were looking for a long-term strategic partner that could demonstrate an impressive track record for growing the digital presence of lifestyle brands – and Smoking Gun delivered just that. Already the agency is making its mark with outstanding media profiling leading us into Christmas, our busiest sales period.”
Smoking Gun’s managing director, Rick Guttridge, added: “Clogau is a long established and trusted brand which fits perfectly into our retained agency partner roster. We’ll be building on its stellar reputation while meeting the key challenge of introducing new customers to the brand.”
Clogau (pronounced “clog eye” for the non-Welsh speakers among us) sources its gold from the Clogau St David’s Gold Mine in North Wales, the source of royal gold including Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding ring and that of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, for over 100 years.
