Mick Style is to leave Wavemaker at the end of May.

In an email seen by Prolific North, he confirmed that Emma Slater would take up the new role of Regional Managing Director for Wavemaker with immediate effect.

“I remain 100% committed to supporting Emma and the whole team at Wavemaker in our delivery for clients and the agency,” wrote Style.

Style was named CEO of Wavemaker North in 2018, following the merger of its MEC and Maxus brands. He’d been MD of MEC Manchester for 13 years, overseeing the agency’s rapid growth in Manchester.

Slater is also a long-time MEC/Wavemaker staffer having been at the agency through its various incarnations for 25 years.

She was promoted from head of Wavemaker North to MD of Wavemaker UK in 2020.

“Whilst this will involve me taking sole leadership for the Manchester business I will also work closely as part of Wavemaker UK’s Senior Leadership Team to bring to life our National and Regional ambitions,” she said of the new role.

It comes as WPP consolidates its Manchester operations in a new 82,000sq ft campus at Enterprise City on Quay Street. The 8-floor building will have space for 800 staff and is set to open later in the year.
