The Great Run Company has announced that AJ Bell will become “Title Partner” of the Great Run Series.
The five-year deal will see the investment platform support not only the flagship Great North Run, the world’s largest half-marathon held annually in Newcastle and attracting around 60,000 entrants, but also sister Great Run Series events in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol and Portsmouth.
Paul Foster, chief executive of the Great Run Company said: “Supporting mass participation sport is more important than ever and we’re delighted AJ Bell will be alongside us as we deliver our events that benefit over 200,000 participants and countless charities every year.’
Michael Summersgill, chief executive of AJ Bell, added: “The inspirational mass participation events that make up the Great Run Series can have a really positive effect on people’s physical health and mental wellbeing. We aim to make people feel good when they invest and we believe running can help do the same in their broader lives.”
AJ Bell has nominated Mind as the official charity partner for the series in the first year of the partnership. Mind provides advice and support through services like the Mind Infoline and online peer support community, Side by Side, so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone. The charity also campaigns to protect the rights and support the needs of the one-in-four of us with a mental health problem, by raising awareness, promoting understanding, and improving services.
