BBC Radio 5 Live has confirmed that Adrian Chiles will take over its Thursday and Friday mid-morning shows.

Chiles replaces Emma Barnett, who’s now the host of Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

“Adrian is a wonderful broadcaster who our audience trust and respect. He has that unique ability to put listeners at ease and make them smile, whilst remaining relentless in his questioning of those in positions of power,” said Heidi Dawson, Controller of BBC Radio 5 Live.

Chiles joined the station at its launch in 1994 and has featured regularly across its schedule, from Wake Up To Money to 5 Live Drive. He currently presents Chiles on Friday and Question Time Extra Time.

Following his move to mid-morning, the Question Time Extra Time show will be replaced with a new programme, hosted by Colin Murray.

Naga Munchetty presents the mid-morning show Monday to Wednesday.
