Tributes are being paid to Ian Wilkinson, who’s lost his battle with mental health problems.

He’s been described as the “life and soul of the office” and a “well-loved colleague with a wicked sense of humour.”

However, he was troubled by anxiety and depressive symptoms for many years and, according to his family, had recently begun to use alcohol and other substances.

His mother, Janet, has set up a Just Giving page in memory of her son, with all funds going to mental health charity, Mind.

She writes:

“Ian was a funny, highly intelligent man who was loved by so many people, but whose life was blighted by feelings of low self-esteem and anxiety. We want to try to achieve something positive from his death, otherwise his loss will be unbearable.

“Please donate whatever you can, however small, in memory of Ian.

“If only he could have believed us when we told him just how much he was loved.”

Ian joined Access Advertising back in November, the Manchester agency said he was “a talented writer and an even better story teller.”
