BBC Radio 5 live has secured exclusive radio rights to five world title fights, including the heavyweight unification bout between Britain’s Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko in April.
The radio rights deal also includes the upcoming grudge match between David Haye and Tony Bellew on Saturday, which will also be live on the BBC Sport website.
The other bouts are Anthony Crolla v Jorge Linares (WBA world lightweight title) on Saturday March 25th and Ricky Burns v Julius Indongo (WBA and IBF world super lightweight titles) on Saturday April 15th.
There will also be a new boxing podcast fronted by 5 live experts Mike Costello and Steve Bunce. The first episode is Haye/Bellew: Already at Boiling Point.
5 live Controller Jonathan Wall said: “We are very proud of our boxing coverage which is compulsory listening for boxing fanatics everywhere. I’m delighted we can expand our offering to audiences, not only with a sensational set of fights to look forward to but also with our brand new podcast.
“We want to continue to be a modernising force in British radio. As well as delivering a dynamic live radio station, we have seen great success with our short form content on-line. We now want to give podcast listeners a much greater choice and deliver more specialist magazine shows, and this latest addition strengthens the network’s podcast portfolio even more.”
